Our Story
Hi! I'm Kayla—a wife, mom, former teacher, Christian, and the heart behind Little Lights.
I've always believed that the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference. Whether it was encouraging students in my classroom, supporting families in my community, or simply finding ways to serve others, giving back has always been a part of who I am.
Little Lights wasn't created because I had all the answers or because I set out to start a nonprofit. It was created because of the people and experiences God placed in my life. Through my family's journey and the children I've been blessed to know, I saw a need to provide comfort, hope, and love during some of life's hardest moments.
My prayer is that every child who receives a Little Lights Care Kit feels seen, valued, and reminded that they are never alone.

Children Facing Hospital Stays
Our family's journey through the NICU, PICU, and later our daughter's open-heart surgery showed us just how overwhelming a hospital stay can be for both children and their families.
Long days, unfamiliar surroundings, and countless unknowns can leave a child feeling scared and isolated. That's why our hospital care kits are designed to bring comfort, encouragement, and a reminder that someone is thinking of them during their healing journey.
Children Experiencing Homelessness
As a former teacher, I had the privilege of working with students experiencing homelessness. Every day I witnessed their resilience, strength, and determination despite circumstances no child should have to face.
Those experiences left a lasting impact on my heart. Every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and cared for, regardless of where they sleep at night. Our care kits provide practical essentials while also offering comfort and hope during times of uncertainty.
Children In Foster Care
Through close friends and family who have welcomed children into foster care, I've seen how sudden and overwhelming those transitions can be.
Many children enter foster care with very few belongings of their own. Our care kits are meant to provide not only essential items but also something every child deserves—a sense of comfort, belonging, and the reassurance that they are loved from the very beginning of their journey.

Through the generosity of families, children, volunteers, and community partners, we remind children experiencing hospitalization, homelessness, or foster care that they are seen, valued, and never alone.
